Thoughts after watching Zion Williamson tonight

Dec 10, 2016, 12:44 AM

Positives:
First of all, the kid is huge. Very well proportioned in his upper and lower body. Looked 6'6, 240 and is quick as a cat. Elite level athleticism. Can absolutely jump out of the gym. Had about 6 or 7 superhuman Lebron James caliber dunks. Can handle the ball like a guard. Mist impressed with his attitude and demeanor on the court. Took some really hard fouls and responded like a mature pro.

Weaknesses:
Caliber of competition is extremely poor, although he did well against the big boys on the summer circuit. Wasn't impressed with his on ball defense. A classic tweener. Is he a power forward or a small forward? Will need to improve perimeter shooting to play the 3 on the next level.

Bottom line:
He could be the basketball version of Deshaun Watson for us. A transcendent talent that could attract others to come play with him. It'll take a miracle to fend off Duke and UNC for his services.

Why not? Especially since Dabo has personally recruited him, and Coach Brownell's biggest selling points is bringing him in to Death Valley for football games.

I'd be SHOCKED if he picked Clemson. It seems like the really high rank SC BB players always go out of state.

He needs to be playing in public schools in Sc or private schools in NC.... He's too good of a ball player to be playing against the comp he plays.
