J. Winston threw 25 TD & 18 INT in 13 gms his last yr @ FSU

He was waaaaaaaaaay more careless with the ball than Watson and he still went #1. Why does it seem that Watson is getting beaten up more even though he threw 12 more TDs and less INTs than Winston did?

Because it's not about stats.
Winston is taller and has a better arm, so he went higher. Simple as that.

Watson's arm is stronger than Winston's. Look at the App State highlights from last season, Watson dropped back and was standing on Clemson's 35 and threw it to Peake who caught right as he passed the line at the endzone. You can look at the South Carolina game last season where Watson threw a heater to Thompson on 3rd down toward the end of the game and he has had a couple throws like that this year as well. Winston doesn't have the arm strength as Watson. I look at Winston as a more of a Peyton Manning type arm, not the strongest but more than good enough to get the job done....

NFL scouts say Watson does not have a strong arm. It seems strong to me. He can put the ball in a tight space as well as anybody I have ever seen. Winston probably has a slightly stronger arm though. Not much. To say Watson's arm is stronger than Winston's is pushing it.

if Winston is 1 inch taller and is 10 lbs. heavier or not he doesn't have 1/10th the character of Deshaun Watson. I'd draft Watson 1st over Winston every time.

which translates much differently to the NFL
from making poor reads.
FSU was trying to repeat as undefeated Champs but had lost a lot to the NFL the previous year.
And in trying to carry the team, Winston simply over-reached -
a la the laughable pick-6 he threw against Oregon in the Semis.
