I didn't realize how much starting salaries have gone up

Dec 6, 2016, 9:10 AM

from some of the major companies out there (particularly out west). Granted salaries are lower in the South because the cost of living is much less, but when I graduated $40K-$50K was the max salary you'd see and that was for engineering jobs.

Thanks for sharing. I'm sure many on this board are dealing with year-end appraisals, etc., so this is timely and useful. If you don't mind me asking, who aggregated this information?

The link was in an article on Yahoo.com this morning

The average movie ticket in 2008 cost $6.95.

In 2016, that same ticket averages $11.95.

I wish it was everyone making more money instead of everything costing more money.

MBA vs. Non-MBA

Dec 6, 2016, 9:59 AM

Seems inflated.

Are you sure that you are looking at Non-MBA salaries for the Accounting/Consulting Companies? For the big 4 accounting firms the starting salaries are realistically 60K at a max (regardless of geographic region) for Audit/Tax/Risk. Consulting positions are a bit higher, around 80K. However, many of those require advanced degrees and would make this non-comparable.

i know sign spinners are getting better rates these days. When I started off in 2008 it paid 7.75 per, now I am up to 11.50 and all the zaxby's I can eat.

In the link, click on "Income by Univ" and go to the bottom

Some wise guy who created this spreadsheet under the University column had,
"Team that upset Clemson". They didn't list the name, but I'm assuming that's suppose to be Pitt.
