A Suggested Tweak for Seeding Process To Improve Attendance

Dec 5, 2016, 7:52 AM

Using this year as an example, Alabama is the only team that really got a geographical advantage in the playoffs.

The way the playoffs are set up this year, Alabama is about the only games that will assure a full house…I don’t know if Clemson fans will travel 2000 miles for a semi-final game and turn around and travel to Tampa in two weeks…Ohio State probably has a bigger national fan base and will probably have a significant advantage in the stands.

Washington is screwed completely…2 East Coast trips…

I would like to see a situation were a higher seeded team can have the option to choose to swap out with a lower seeded team if it helps Geography.

In this scenario, #2 Clemson would have first shot and if they wanted to swap with #4 Washington they could. In this case Clemson would be 2 hours from Atlanta and Washington would be much closer to Arizona. If #2 didn’t exercise that option then #3 they option to switch with #4.

I just want the 4 teams to have a good representation….

This year, the deck is stacked for Alabama and OSU to have the best chance to play in the National title and that is kind of obvious.. Even if Clemson loses, I would love to see Washington upset the apple cart and screw up the media darlings.

That's not how brackets work. The #1 team gets the advantage/reward of playing the lowest ranked team.

This problem is not fixable as you have to reserve the stadium for logistic prep WAY in advance. It is what it is.

it seems like

Somewhere central for semis could be a permanent locale.

Eff the stupid corporate sponsored bowl BS.

PlayStation Fiesta Bowl?

This would be the best solution. Make playoff games somewhere middle of the country permanently. Kind of like the road to Omaha.

thanks for saying more clearly

what i was getting at.

Dallas is the city that sticks out to me for some reason.

it's a little south, but coast to coast central and has a giant dome.

Can we just be happy we're in?

Besides the guys wanted Arizona. Apparently one of the gifts is the latest, greatest gaming system. Lol.

How about have a pool of potential locations that could be ready to host a semi depending on the participants. For example using this years field, have a predetermined location like Nashville or Indy that would suit both CU and OSU.

Indy yes. Nashville no.***

Play the semis in the higher seed's home stadium.

The pros and FCS do it. Would also add a significant advantage to being #1 or #2

I can live with that***
