"Pussification of Football"

EXACTLY what I told my husband after they through a flag on Big Ben. He almost fell out of his recliner when I said it because I'm a grandma, but I call it like I see it.

The best part of this is the way Boulware waves him off after the tackle.

Lead blocking for Spiller and Davis absolutely laid a defender out on when looked like a TD run.

Ref threw the flag and called Davis for "blocking too hard."

What about playing to the whistle? I saw it live on tv and it looked like he played till the whistle blew.,

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He did

Nov 5, 2016, 9:44 PM

you could hear on TV the whistle wasn't blown until he was on the ground. Another situation where if he lets him go the guy keeps running and probably scores but because Ben played until the whistle he looks like he was being crazy. He just needs to keep doing what he's doing. One things for sure, I bet players on the other teams will be avoiding coming in contact with #10 when they get the ball.

Its kind of like a wrestling star's bio-story where they show their greatest matches.

Re: FB Update: Swinney on what ref said on penalty: "He tackled him too hard"

This was an obvious "giving him the business" infraction. No question. Ron Cherry confirms.

"He tackled him too hard"

Nov 5, 2016, 11:09 PM

I sure hope someone recorded that "explanation". Also the one explaining why intentional grounding wasn't called--to 80,000 fans. "The quarterback was not under pressure...". Like, our DL doesn't try to get to the qb...

Re: FB Update: Swinney on what ref said on penalty: "He tackled him too hard"

Nov 5, 2016, 11:46 PM

If you read this, great tackle Ben. You couldn't of done it much better, the guy wasn't giving up. Bad call by the refs. I'm not going to name anyone, but we've had some dirty players in our history, (and very very few under Dabo)- you are not one of them as far as I can tell. For me it just looked like you gave it your all to stop a guy bent on gaining yards. Solid play. I'm upset that the refs took what should of been a fantastic play and made it into yards for the other team.

Isn't this just a standard penalty now? As far as I've seen this year, any & all "suplexes" have been called the same exact way Ben's play was called.

I gotta say, I agree with you.

Bouleware's enthusiasm (or whatever you wanna call it) is going to wind up getting him in trouble if he's not careful.

From where I was sitting in the North Stands looked like a great take-down by Ben. If you want to watch a ballet you may want to check the Peace Center schedule; this is football as it was meant to be played.

That's some sound reasoning there:

"This PC-bullsht is ruining the country!"

Yeah...penalizing suplex tackling is so PC...just like mandatory seatbelt use ruined driving cars.

Nov 6, 2016, 9:21 AM

I am die hard tiger the niece of Jim Phillips but I don't think it was to hard but I also don't think it was a good tackle .Yes he stopped him but it was looked like a desperate move and by no means does he need to do desperate moves his a good player and has Proven it .Yes we got a penalty but regardless I stand behind my tigers maybe some would have done it different but he did what he felt was needed to do his job.Absolutely didn't let him go that's for sure. Still a proud tiger and this is a rough sport it is what it is if you can't hang in with the big boys on the field then in sorry but its a FULL CONTACT SPORT MAN UP

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why does being Jim Phillips neice matter?

Nov 6, 2016, 9:04 PM

I am die hard tiger the niece of Jim Phillips but I don't think it was to hard but I also don't think it was a good tackle. OMG...an incomplete/run-on sentence, spelling error, with a pointless namedrop to boot!!!

Spelling test...which is correct for sentence above
a) to hard
b) too hard
c) two hard

That's even legal in scholastic wrestling with NO PADS!

Nov 7, 2016, 2:28 PM

In scholastic wrestling, they don't even wear pads and you're still allowed to suplex somebody like Boulware did. In scholastic wrestling, you're just not allowed to drive a guy HEAD-FIRST into the mat (due to potential head & neck injuries). The Syracuse guy was trying to run forward. Boulware was trying to keep him from gaining 1 more foot. I don't really know of any other way Boulware could have got him to the ground from that position without letting the guy gain more yardage. Bogus call.
