Meant to share this, but I've been busy.
Tuesday is my golf day. Shot 84 at a local course where I rarely break 90, because lots of trees. Anyway, driving home, I'm listening to 640 The Monster in the Tri-Cities area of ETn. To my delight, Bill Meade is not on (the guy is painful to listen to); instead, it's the morning guy, Bobby Rader filling in. He's talking to a caller who is discussing UT being favored on the road vs UGA.
I decide to call in. I say, "Bobby, it's hard being a Clemson alum in the heart of SEC country." He says, among other things, "My daughter has a Clemzin thing going on."
"Well, I hope she doesn't put that z in Clemson like you do." Then I proceed to talk about the reason I called; which is to say I really appreciate Vegas making us a dog at home.
Bobby says, "Wait, wait, wait! You can't do a drive-by like that. What do you mean, putting a z in Clemzin?"
So I say, "Bobby, there is no z in ClemSON." For the rest of the call, he's saying Clemson.
On my way to work Wed. morning, I'm listening to the morning show and Bobby and his normal sidekick, Kenny Hawkins are filling some time. Bobby says the name of some town and Kenny tells him it's not pronounced like that. Bobby: "I got in trouble yesterday for saying Clemzin."
Kenny: "How do you say it?"
Bobby: "It's ClemSON."
My work is done.
