Is Clemson the next Alabama when it comes to college football? Not only is Coach Swinney a former a alum and coach at Alabama. It makes you wonder if he isn't building Clemson with the Crimson tide's recipe. As much as we want the Tigers to be GREAT in every game, especially on offense. Is that even the plan for Dabo's success? We see all this offensive talent, and all these fast tempo offenses. And automatically think that Clemson is going be the next Oregon or Baylor. But if you look at what Dabo is trying to do; Tough physical teams, don't turn the ball over, run the football, good special teams, and hard nose tough defense. You can look at what he's done with the present coaching staff (Elliot/ Scott)- and even in future recruits. Especially at QB with Hunter Johnson and Chase Brice. Maybe the staff isn't worried about being the best offense in the nation, or even the conference. As much as we think they SHOULD be. Maybe Swinney realizes we only need to be the best offense/ and best team on a given day against who we're playing against. And really, the only goal is to just win. Just win! And although not always pur-ty - Dabo has done that since he's been here; He's won games. And will, WILL win plenty more. So from the media's perspective and fan's stand point. We must accept that. Otherwise, we'll drive ourself crazy (me including). So if we're following Bama's path, I'm all for it. Cause I see Championships on the way. All thanks to Dabo Swinney.
I don't think we are Bama 2.0. We are Clemson 1.0. There have been others who have tried to win with either all offense or all defense. Dabo is more fun loving than Saban. But Dabo is trying and doing what Saban does best. That's win consistently and at a high level. Also, our line play on both sides of the ball has become considerably better over the last few years. I believe Dabo is a building a program that can win in multiple ways from out scoring or playing a more defensive game or even the special teams. But I do agree with your assessment. Dabo isn't worried about putting up 80 points a game. He wants to the team to win first while playing to our standard.
