dsgriff dodged a bullet today

My daughter has decided she will NOT be going to college in Cootlumbia! We visited Columbia College today, and she has knocked them off of the list.
I may need Dabo to help out on our Clemson visit on February 29. She thinks Clemson is too big, and the harder I argue my case, the more she digs in.

But no way I would follow through (she knows better than to even bring up that other school in COLA). This should be her decision. And by the way, it will cost us more to send her to Clemson than her other two choices, Winthrop and Anderson.

Sounds like she has two other fine choices! If she wants a smaller environment I would suggest Wofford, Francis Marion, Coker or perhaps Newberry for visits time permitting. Scholarship money is available for all of them.

Francis Marion. It's like the dollar general of colleges. Tuition was 7 grand a semester when I was there. Cheaper than anywhere else I applied (coastal and Clemson). Very easy to get in, extremely hard to get out. Like marriage.

My dad gave me the same ultimatum, go anywhere you want, but I'm only paying for Clemson.

I can't imagine why anyone would go to Columbia College.

She is hung up on "big school" and student to faculty ratio
Her Mom and I are both CU grads, as are three of her uncles, three aunts, one grandfather and two great grandfathers. She has a first cousin as a freshman. But she is going to make her own decision, and I support that.
Clemson was perfect for me, but it might not be for her. She loves the Tigers and hates the Coots, and I hope she chooses Clemson, but we are letting her decide.

My daughter is at Emory. If your daughter has the grades, the ratios are low, lots of scholarships and no worries about having to cheer for their football team, they don't have one.

I stopped arguing a long time ago. I think I have been clear that it is HER decision. But we ARE visiting, so I want the visit to be as successful and effective as possible. Arguing won't do it.
I would be happy with her attending any of them, but happiest if she were at Clemson.
Now move along, Coot.

Do as my dad ...said I could go anywhere I wanted but if I went to Clemson, he would pay my way. Since that was the only place I applied, it worked out fine. Never wanted to go anywhere else. Quit arguing with her and just take her on a visit. You raised her right and she'll be fine.

She does not have to worry about daddy paying for it because good ole (BS) sanders is going to pay for everyone to get a free college education.
