Ol' Ball Coach to Serve as Coot's Ambassador

Feb 11, 2016, 7:26 PM

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Steve Spurrier has a new role at South Carolina: special assistant to president Harris Pastides and athletic director Ray Tanner.

Spurrier resigned as football coach in October. He had a contract clause that allowed him to assume such a role, if he wanted. Tanner said Spurrier recently accepted the position and has met with donors and boosters at a few basketball games this season.

Spurrier and his wife, Jerri, were on hand Monday night, when the second-ranked Gamecocks hosted No. 1 Connecticut in women's hoops.

Spurrier spent 10-plus years in charge of the football program and is the winningest coach in school history. He stepped away mid-season this past fall -- "I fired myself," Spurrier said -- when the Gamecocks struggled.

Will Muschamp took over as coach in December.

And just what, pray tell ...is he the ambassador of ?
Have the chickens gone off the proverbial deep end here ? The dude wrecked their recruiting through his do-nothing approach . He embarrased them with his drunken folloes on his own TV show , ran them into some NCAA violation trouble and ultimately quit on his team mid season because he is so absorbed with not appearing to fail .

All they had to do was offer him all the beer he wanted instead of paying him. Wait, the $100,000 salary might be the better deal.

by the Capons to continue honoring a man that effectively took a giant power dump on the University, its coaches, players, recruits. and fans. His quitting on them mid-season set the program back at least five years if not more.

under that in ten. They will bing paying off teams to keep from playing them. Wofford and The Citadel, in they are on future schedules,
should realize nice profits.
