Scholarship policy needs to be chaged

The NCAA should make a school honor its athletic scholarships for four years provided grades are maintained. When a kid gets hurt, it takes a low down coach and a sorry school to take his scholarship and i don't care who does it.

If a player is REALLY injured beyond playing, a medical hardship classification isn't hard to apply for and get. In fact , Saban has been accused of exploiting/abusing the option, but it still allows a player to get his degree.

SEC would just stop "tutoring" the players they want to

get rid of ... fail them out.
Fix one thing, and they'll figure a way around it ...
I've noticed the SEC isn't signing 35 players per class anymore, but they still have too many on scholly every year after signing day. Weird.

You realize coaches don't take scholarships from injured kids, right?
The ncaa excludes medical hardship scholarships from the 85 limit so there is no reason to have to pull a scholarship from an injured kid.

There are guidelines and an approval process largely because of Nick Saban abusing the system.

It's not a matter of simply being injured....

It has to be a career ending injury which is not the case with Shaq Davidson. That's simply a case of CussChamp culling the flock.

Rogers was expected to compete for increased playing time following the departures of Shaq Lawson and Kevin Dodd to the NFL but he made the decision to leave anyway. That was a decision Rogers made. For whatever reason he just wasn't happy anymore, and just felt like he needed a change.

The decision was all Dane's. Dabo and BV very much wanted Dane around next year. It's Dane's choice to transfer down for playing time AFTER he finishes this semester in May.
Read that again, he's still in school and if he chose to stay, he could.

It allows the school to continue paying for an injured Athlete's scholarship even though his playing career has ended. This is protection for athletes. If you can no longer play, your scholarship does not disappear. The Athletic Department continues to pay for the scholarship but the scholarship does not count against team scholarship numbers.
Saban was actually accused of abusing this a few years ago. The gist of it was Saban was effectively kicking kids off the team who had not sustained career ending injuries in order to make room for over-signing, but he was sending them on their way with a full scholarship. At the time, Alabama had twelve times the career ending injuries of every other SEC team.

Clemson already does this. When an athlete qualifies and is offered a scholarship, that scholarship will be honored over a 4-year period. In order to remove a scholarship, the coaches need to go before the Academic Review Board and prove that is has nothing to do with performance or on-field issues.
-Source is current Clemson professor and close friend who has served on said board.
