I don't know whether to be surprised or proud. But your confidence in his scok game is at the least a display of your stubborn willingness to fight off coots. Right or wrong about Clemson_Alumnus I appreciate your effort.
And Clemson_Alumnus... I hope your dog is doing fine this morning.

He's acting normal. He hasn't pooped this morning, but I will be watching for when he does.

It can be risky. If he didn't choke then just make sure to check the stool for blood the next couple days. Potentially a bone could splinter and do damage. But hopefully nothing will happen.

Ole Casey lived until I was 27. Go figure............

Back then folks worried about what to feed their kids and let the kids worry about the dogs.

FWIW...I have always fed pork and beef bones. The bird bones are the ones that will splinter and I would be more concerned about.

I actually didn't feed him these bones. He snagged the bone off the counter when I was done making a soup stock with it.

Just wanted to share my knowledge and expertise. I'm a veterinarian! Ham bones can potentially become lodged in the intestines and cause a blockage, bowel rupture, and peritonitis. Take him to a veterinarian for an exam and X-rays. Wait and see is not a good option. There is a chance he could pass it, but if it becomes lodged Dabo is in big trouble. Better to be safe than sorry.

I believe her bowels got punctured and she became septic. I didn't put two and two together until it was too late ...
Definitely consult your veterinarian. This is very serious.

My father-in-law is a vet. He said if you must feed a dog a bone that pork bones were the safest bet. NEVER let them have chicken bones. Also the dog's size matters. Is your dog a Lab or a chiguagua? Obviously the smaller the dog the more dangerous it could be. Good luck.

He passed all of the bone bits. He chewed them into basically powder. He isn't in pain and has had no blood in his stool all day. He's pooping normally and has no pain or tenderness. Here's a picture of him.

He is cute. If I were you, I would never again feed him pork or ham bones. They do splinter and can become blocked in his intestines or to perforate. Worst are pork chop or chicken bones. Beef bones are fine but they should be raw. Cooked t-bone steak bones can splinter too.

It was thoroughly boiled in extremely hot water for hours, so it was fairly soft, but I read about the dangers of dogs eating them.

Can I feed him the rest of the ham from the stock or is that also bad?
