Facing a third-and-7 at the USC 33 with 9:58 to play, the coaching staff was looking to play it safe and settle for a field goal.

Swinney instead called a timeout. He wanted a play with more options, and QB Deshaun Watson ended up throwing a 24-yard pass to Trevion Thompson. That conversion kept the drive alive and led to a 3-yard TD run by Watson to give the Tigers a nine-point advantage with 8:05 to play.

"We've got the best quarterback in the country, and I want to give him an opportunity, and if we get beat, it's not going to be because he didn't have the ball in his hands," Swinney said. "So that's really what that was."

Odd how a guy (CDS) that cannot coach

according to FGF type folks has done so well offensively. Think about his OCs:

Napier-little/no experience
Chad Morris-LOL HIGH SCHOOL COACH (that's what they all said)
Now we have Scottelliott-If you have 2 OCs it means you don't really even have 1 right? This is a WR coach and a RB coach with again little/no college OC experience.

Yet the machine keeps rolling, and our offense continues to improve and get more balanced.

At what point does CDS get proper credit for being able to coach? After winning 50+ in 5 seasons?

The best part about the biddies is that their "old ball sack" has left the building, and he took their future with him for the forseeable future. Now the will go through the extended process of hiring and firing the coaches who think thay can amount to something there while dealing with a fan base that expect a miracle, who quickly get frustrated with the lack of success, and who fire the coach and start over again and again. This will be a fun time to be a Tiger fan.

Im sorry, but why the heck would we be playing it safe and playing for a field goal in that position? This mindset is more worrisome than anything else. Throwback to the Bowden approach... You put your foot on their throat....
