Elegy of the Gamecock
Don’t trust your heart, it’s such a decietful thing
Use your head, man… grow a brain!
Clemson’s coming, riding the wayne train
a pride of Tigers stalking, and they’re bringing the pain!
“Women and Children First” I heard them say
Ole Spurrier heard it too, and he up and ran away!
The piper started piping, and he didn’t want to pay
He heard the trumpet sounding for his coming judgement day!
Hide the Wife, and hide the kids
Don’t let ‘em see the damage-- turn away their little heads!
An innocence lost is a childhood dead.
Don’t let ‘em watch the carnage! Send them away or up to bed!
A Terrier has gotten sent to the pound
A Mountaineer was buried-- deep in the ground!
A Louisville slugger took a Cardinal down
Like a stud who broke his leg in a race at Churchill Downs.
Horse shoes, shamrocks, Leprechauns, and unicorns
Luck has left the Domers when the Tigers bring the storm!
Doesn’t matter if it’s raining, the Tigers still perform
Irish demeanor lugubrious, and countenance forlorn.
Yellow jackets swatted, same for Boston College,
Al Golden won’t forget when Miami got demolished.
The Pack got whacked when Clemson went to Raleigh
The division was abandoned by Jimbo Fisher in the Valley.
Clemson brought the heat in the Carrier Dome,
Then they exorcised the deacons when the Tigers came back home
But not before a Bulldog got a Chicken by the neck bone
They’re laughing in the city with the streets of cobblestone.
You have hopes and dreams that this will be your day
But the truth that you can handle is you’re only in the way.
Relevance is gone long before the memory fades away
But if you dare to pull a Tiger’s tail, you’re gonna have to pay.
It happens every year when Thanksgiving comes around
Calamity is coming when Clemson comes to town
The Tiger’s roar will echo, with every play and touchdown
It’s a kingdom’s coronation, and Clemson wears the crown.
