I seriously doubt that. They only saw each other a few

times a year and on business at that. I WOULD say they were friendly to each other in person.

It's been my understanding that Spurrier isn't a likeable guy, at all. And this isn't my bias showing - this is coming from posts on FGF, CT, as well as people I know that have met and know the man.

I started to type out two different stories of friends of mine that have met/know him. In one instance, it's a friend of mine that paid to be in a golf foursome with Spurrier, in another, it's a friend that works with Spurrier (not through USC - another venture). Now isn't the time nor place for those stories, and some of that is told to me in confidence, so I won't get into that here. But, both friends of mine - neither have met each other, and they both walked away with nearly the same descriptions of the man. Keep in mind, the friend that was in the golf outing - he's a diehard gamecock, spent a fortune on that trip and he left that thing with a severe distaste for his own team's coach.

While I do believe Dabo respects Spurrier on the football field, I'd find it hard to believe they were/are actually friends, in any meaning of the word.

This sounds about right.


I agree that they won't friends but I also don't believe they were enemies like many of us believe. I don't think there was any hatred or animosity there.
