Anybody ever hear of that rule at the end of the Easley Daniel game?

Aug 28, 2015, 11:05 PM

Strange!?!?!??? Easley punts out of its own endzone with 5 seconds left up 19-17. Daniel fair catches it. Daniel then lines up for free kick field goal for the win with 1 second. He misses.
Never heard of that rule.

You get a free kick from a fair catch. At any time. Free kick means you can tee it up like a kick off. Just never comes up in the rules very often

How about this, it's 1st and 10 with the ball downed on the 35 with 5 seconds left in the game 4th quarter. There isn't enough time left to run a play, so we decide to try a 45 yd field goal to win or tie the game. If we miss the field goal attempt, do we get 3 more tries at it bc it was 1st and 10 on our first attempt at the field goal?

no... the only benefit of kicking on 3rd down is if there is

Aug 29, 2015, 12:26 AM

a bad snap.

Kicking the fg is a change of possession either way

I felt like there was some kind of screwed up rule that would take away the other 3 downs, Thanks.

Either this link or my memory is bad,

Because Doug Flutie made a successful drop kick after his team had a fair catch. Seems like it may have been his last or one of his last games.

Flutie was a different situation. He just used a drop kick for an XP which no one does anymore.

sure, who hasn't?

besides Qualk, of course.
