I've never understood...

Aug 2, 2015, 11:06 PM

why so many 5 star players that play the same position, commit to the same school and ride the bench for 2/3 yes when they can go to other top notch schools and play early. I know some players don't mind sitting for a year or 2 to learn but why not commit somewhere you know you could possibly play year 1 and be "the man"

i imagine they're not afraid of competition, they're not

afraid of success on a team level & they have higher goals in mind than just being the man from year 1?

If a five believes he is a uber talented freak why would he

Care about a log jam in front of him?

Every single recruit is told they have a chance to start from day 1 and are told they are special and can compete for a starting spot. Especially these 5* kids. And each one believes they are better than the others and are gonna play. But coaches will say anything to get these kids to commit.

Because they want to play for a winner and play...

for a school that produces NFL players. Which is why keep on getting talented WR's year after year.

I understand all the points you guys are making. Maybe I'm just a lil salty when some of those 5 star guys commit to Alabama and FSU and sit 2/3 years when they can maybe come to us and play early. Not knocking the talent on Clemson's roster but we could use more of those 5 stars but I am happy with the players we have and the ones we are getting.

Especially true in basketball. McDonald All-Americans

sitting on a bench and jumping and clapping all game. Waste of talent.

coaches earn reputations as successful developers

of talent and smart talent wants to be trained by the best.

Great point. I think our coaches can develop those kids just as good as the coaches at Bama, FSU, LSU etc.

Some might actually choose the school for the academics and a chance for a good education for which they won't have to pay.

Can't fault them for that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well there are only like 30 5* recruits per year and i can

Aug 3, 2015, 7:04 AM

guarantee you that none of them think they will ever be riding the bench behind anyone.

I would say if anything that the competition at that position is going to make them just as successful as being a very big fish in a very small pond. When the coaches get thru with them, they are probably ready for the next level, even with only 1 year of PT possibly.
