Advice for a sick dog...

Jul 29, 2015, 4:50 PM

My dog can't hold his food down for the last 4 days. He throws it up generally, but he also has an upset stomach as well. I am going to take him to the vet of course tomorrow. Anyone know what could be going on with my pooch?

Needs further testing but try some ground meat with rice. No seasoning.

Yeah...

I made him chicken breast with rice and thought he would be fine. He can't He can't hold it down.

Tell him not to hold emergency media conference and...

talk about his enemies.

That appears to cause great anxiety.

Also see the vet. Hope he gets better.

I'm not a vet but I did sleep...........

A couple of things:

Those cheap pigs ears can be really hard on a dog's stomach. Made my lab very sick once

If he is a lab or beagle it could be that he has ate something he should'nt have

Mayo can sometimes make a dog sick as my dachshund ate potato salad and was sick for about a week

If he is a pup or unvaccinated, Parvo could be an issue. Hopefully not cause that can be serious.

Hope he feels better.

He is a dachshund as well. His shots are 3 months behind, but it's time. Hopefully not Parvo. Thanks for the insight.

Try a bowl of cooked white rice. This worked for my dog a few years ago when she had a similar issue (what the vet suggested). Good luck!

I will do that. Thank you.

Had a similar experience a few years ago....

The dog couldn't hold his food down and threw-up freguently.

Took him to the vet and as it turned out, he ingested one of the kids socks and it was blocking his digestive tract.

After a $2,500 surgery the dog recovered nicely. Hopefully you don't have to learn the hard way to pet-proof your house.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

I had this same issue. Dog swallowed a toy and have to have surgery to remove it. The vet bill was rough, but the dog has recovered perfectly.

My advice would be to disregard any advice here, and only listen to what your vet says. We aren't veterinarians.

have you checked his lint trap? It might be clogged.

Sounds like what happened with my wife's dog a very little chihuahua.
The vet thinks he ate a dead animal.
Gave him some meds and a few days later.
He was fine and annoying as ever.

Interesting...

I could definitely see that. Thanks

Stop trying to feed him, and get him to a vet immediately. Don't wait.

Agree! In addition the dog could be dehydrated and may not last until tomorrow.
