I don't remember much about Maverick Morris when we nabbed

him.

What is everyone's expectation of this guy? I know he wasn't highly rated but our staff must have saw something in him they liked. Do any of you expect him to have significant playing time this year?

Honestly , I think every lineman on our roster will contribute in some way even if it means bringing Spencer regions daily dosage of Mcdonalds cheesburgers...... oh nvm he's gone .

From what I recall he really made an impression on the coaches during one of the camps and received an offer. Wasn't highly rated by the major recruiting services when he committed. He definitely needed to get stronger out of high school. After a couple of years in the program I would expect him to contribute this year.

OLs seem to be a position where the services have a really tough time ranking players, particularly after the top couple of kids. IMO, it's much easier to look at a 6-7 290 lb athletic tackle and predict success than it is to look at a 6-3 265 guard who needs to improve his technique, improve his strength and who might grow an inch or 2. It's also tough to know whether a slightly less athletic, and doughy 320 lb kid will be able to become more mobile and flexible if he drops 25 lbs and spends time in a college S&C program.

When coaches get kids in camp, they can evaluate things like flexibility, maturity, underlying athleticism, or lack thereof. We've had success and evaluation misses on kids like this in the past in roughly equal proportion. I think our staff has improved in both their ability to "coach em up", and their ability to evaluate potential.
