Cal St -F- Four national championships on that scoreboard

May 29, 2015, 11:17 PM

(more than the coots btw) and we think our programs are special. What have we won the last two decades? 2 ACC tourneys and what else?

We are the only team in that regional without a NC........10 of them collectively.....reminds me of Sesame Street skit "which of these things is not like the others"...

That is unreal

so which school would you like Clemson to trade

sports programs with? Swap everything - past, present, and future?

Fullerton, Pepperdine, or Arizona State?

I would surmise if we weren't weighed down with a football program, we could concentrate a might bit better in baseball.

My issue isn't that we haven't won one. My issue is that we've been to 40 freaking tournaments and have more resources than any of those schools...and we STILL haven't won one. It's embarrassing.

What resources?

We are in a small state that produces talent at the same rate as CT. As a whole, our program has produced less major leaguers (53) than the likes of Fullerton (65), Arizona (80), ASU (126), Long Beach State (55), Miami (60), Florida (63), FSU (69), GT (57), Michigan (90), Texas (119), Southern Cal (128), UCLA (86), UNC (65), etc.

South Carolina only has 51 major leaguers.

It isn't just less talent, it is less quality talent too. We have 2 All Stars ever - Billy O'Dell and Jimmy Key. From a quick guess/search USC only has Brian Roberts. Neither state school has a guy who is close to the HOF either. If you look at the schools I listed above, they have a lot more All Stars, HOFers, MVPs, etc.

The administration didn't give baseball the support it needs. It only took UNC and UVA getting real good before they finally allowed Jack to get the facilities that we need to compete - a batting cage doesn't cut it anymore. We are a good baseball school, but there isn't enough talent in our state to expect much more than what we have achieved.

no kidding - Fullerton/Pepperdine has 2x the population

within 10 miles (aka the city of Los Angeles) than lives in the entire state of SC.

Having a good football program isn't an excuse to not Excell in other sports.
