Just because we offer a player and he includes us in his short list doesn't mean we have him sewn up. It's hard to "whiff" on a recruit when you're not necessarily the favorite to begin with.
Which of the 5 targets you feel we've missed on recently had us substantially in the lead and then changed their minds?

I think our lil ole foosball team will find some quality players in this recruiting cycle. Besides, how many more years can Richt sell recruits on "this is the year, you are the final piece to this puzzle that's had me confused for the past 15 years."

The coaching staff has a list of their top priority recruits and backups for those recruits. Since this is such a small class, the staff is putting in extra interest into their main targets and is downplaying the backups. Since we are likely only taking 1-2 DTs this year, Julian was our backup for Rashuan Gary (#1 DT) and Nyles Pinkney (top DT instate) which we are in good shape with. If a school doesn't show a recruit genuine interest the recruit often looks for others that will. In this case it was Georgia. I really only feel we missed out on 2 recruits so far, being Saivion Smith (still don't think we're out of it) and Clark Yarbourgh. We are at the level of recruiting that we can be that picky.

Must seem like an impossible mountain to climb for the jr staff and fans.... it's too bad, really. They were such gracious winners. They don't deserve this.
