Gotta agree with him on this, and here is why:

May 27, 2015, 10:53 AM

Everything does have to be equal in college sports. Its the only way that the eventual conversation about paying players will be kept in check. Everything has to be fair and balanced across the board - what 1 school can pay a player can't be any more than another school on the West Coast can pay. What the starting QB gets a year has to be equal to what a backup volleyball gets paid (Title IV will help in this case). If not it will spiral out of control.

Best Is The Standard

Name me one thing in life that is fair and equal?

May 27, 2015, 10:58 AM

Life isn't fair and it never will be.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why does it have to be equal?

If I work harder and am more successful than my competition, then I can spend more.

system would be a huge detriment to Clemson. We wouldn't be able to pay what a lot of other schools could pay.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So the collective should set the rates?***

it already isn't equal. The majority of these scholarship

Students should not be in school in the first place.

schools should simply get rid of any special admittance requirements for athletes. get your teams through tryouts from the general school population. Call it the obannon act.

I disagree with you there. Kids are having to put in way more time and effort in their sport in order to succeed over others these days. If schools were to hold tryouts, our athletes would not be at the caliber they are today. Athletes attending these universities might not have the highest GPA's entering the schools, but they are having to manage much more than the average student, which is why they should be given a little lead way.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

according to these pay the player groups. . these

May 27, 2015, 2:13 PM

Kids don't get any leeway. . So there is nothing to be lost.

The kids you talk about could spend less time on being super athletes and more time on being students worthy of acceptance. You know, spend your efforts on school in order to get into school.

When he signs players to 4 year schollies, we will listen

to him crying about unlevel playing fields....as long as he is signing an extra class every four years, his pleas should go unheard

I had to laugh a little listening to WCCP this morning.

People were complaining about paying players. It sounded like a bunch of socialist. They were basically saying that if one school thinks the market warrants paying players X amount, they should not be allowed. People are worried that football will go away if the market allows what it will allow.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

no, people see the inevitable bidding wars***

I know. That is what a free market is.

May 27, 2015, 11:56 AM

That is why I said they sound like Socialist.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

And in this instance i would support it 100%.

May 27, 2015, 12:04 PM

That would be horrible for CFB, and, more importantly, horrible for Clemson. We don't have the kind of budget to keep up with the Jones' in that type of system. The rich would get much richer, and if you think things like facilities, tradition, and winning sell right now, just imagine how $$$$$$$ would sell.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I know. I would like to vacation in the Caribbean every year

but I cannot afford it.

competition fair. You can't run a sports league like a free market. If you did, the Yankees, Cowboys and Lakers would win every year

Yes and the players are Unionized.***

May 27, 2015, 12:59 PM

It would be the worst thing to happen to CFB as a whole, but

Re: That is Free Market Economics.***

May 27, 2015, 1:20 PM

Football whether it be NFL or college has to have parity for all teams to be competitive. It's a sport and fans of all teams feel they should have a level playing field regardless of their size or location. You have several really good teams in really small schools that could not compete against the mega schools. That is what makes college football the game it is today. Free market is the American way in all business or should be, but this is college kids playing a sport

yes, thanks for the lesson Milton Freidman, now tell me

May 27, 2015, 2:16 PM [ in reply to That is Free Market Economics.*** ]

how that would HELP CFB as a whole and/or Clemson

Re: yes, thanks for the lesson Milton Freidman, now tell me

May 27, 2015, 2:20 PM

Well, obviously with Clemson and all schools having a set $$ amount across the board levels the playing field as far as how much LEGAL $$ the players receive. Going to a school to play football shouldn't be about how much money they are going to make while in college with the college funding their entire ride

The satellite camps are one thing the ACC and sec have in common. Do those work for teams that use them and would it benefit Clemson. Isn't it always better to get them on our Campus
