2016 #1 WR Nate Craig decommits from Auburn

May 6, 2015, 11:09 PM

Any chance we land him? I know we were recruiting him at one point, just not sure where we may stand. Has he visited?

Maybe he wants to be a part of the Florida to Clemson pipeline at the new WRU. Who knows...our staff usually does a great job of staying in contact with recruits even after they commit to another school. Personally, I think we're in a much better position than Auburn right now. Their defense is in shambles, and their offense is being rebuilt. If he wants to play in a spread/zone read offense, Clemson gets the nod.

I have no idea, but I bet it's FSU.

May 6, 2015, 11:26 PM

He is from Fla and and FSU has a stud QB committed for 2016 as well. Malik Henry from IMG Academy some have as the number 1 QB in the nation. 5 star guy I just bet it's FSU. I have no idea though. More importantly, if we are full at WR, would we take him? Probably a dumb question. Sure we would make it work if we like his character as well.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

Still think Overton is the best WR in this year's class...or probably of the last several years, actually.

Guy is the closest thing to Calvin Johnson since, well, Calvin Johnson. Just my own opinion. I literally don't know how you'd cover this guy.

I completely agree with you Q. With guys like Cain and McCloud in the '15 class, we need to add that rangy player like Overton. He will beast in our offense. Hopefully the bagmen from UT don't sway him. The only downfall would be having Craig wind up at F$U with some very good incoming QB's and WR's like Rudolph, Lane and Campbell. Really hoping they do away with divisions in the ACC soon. It's a waste having the top 2 ACC teams in the same division each year, but maybe that's just the way Swoffie wants it, guaranteeing the strongest team in the ACC won't stumble in the ACCCG.

I guess we have to help change his mind about FSU by kicking the chit out of them 11/7/2015!!!

I as thinking something along those lines...

May 6, 2015, 11:40 PM

Maybe we win the National Title, Watson wins the Heisman, and there is a ton of buzz around the program and our high octane offense.

Auburn had 4 bagmen for this guy. What's up with that? Maybe FSU has 5 or more.

JK - an AU fan told me that when they got him to commit. He said nobody else had that many bagmen.

They're moving up in the world. They used to just have one and he pretty much ran all of Auburn like his own private fiefdom...at least until Colonial Bancgroup went belly-up after the real-estate bubble burst, anyhow.

Guess they found alternative revenue streams.

got to love the mot. no matter what sport, we are supposed to go after and get every guy that transfers or decommits. believe it or not we can not sign every player that decides to go elsewhere.

Re: Most likely FSU bound, BUT he's from Tampa

May 7, 2015, 9:58 AM

I agree, and he will more than likely be F$U bound. My only point is I wouldn't want to see him head to F$U, but I definitely wouldn't burn bridges with the recruits we have to get him. If Overton would go ahead and make it official I would feel a lot more at ease. Now if Overton is a take, but decides to head to UT, I can't imagine us passing on Nate if he wants to commit.

FSU

May 7, 2015, 9:28 AM

We would only persue him if one of the other WRs (Chase/Powell) decommitted.

Overton is going to be a Tiger.

Hope you're right Woods. He would develop into a monster. Hard to believe he's only played football for a year.
