MLB DH Debate

There have been several comments made by some of the bigger names in baseball in the last week or two regarding the MLB use of the DH in the American league but not in the National. I see the aspect where pitchers are athletes, and should be physically able to go up and swing a bat three times in the vicinity of an incoming pitch. But I also see where these pitchers are being paid such a high dollar amount for a specialization, that the risk for injury is to high. Should it be a choice for the team whether they use a DH or not, or should the leagues come together to make a decision for the league as a whole? Thoughts?

The NL isn't close to adding the designated hitter, but I'd argue that they should. Pitchers just don't have the time to dedicate to hitting. Even pitchers that were once prolific hitters don't make solid contact on a regular basis. Fun trivia: Tim Hudson broke Frank Thomas' home run record at Auburn.

pitchers should face the music & managers should be challenged with roster management in working "around the 9" spot in tightly contested affairs.

there's a lot more to it, but that'll do for now.
