Should we be concerned that Coach Brownell can't seem
Apr 21, 2015, 8:30 AM

|
to find players that can help next year for the scholarships he has available, especially after 5 years of establishing recruiting relationships? Djambo left a year ago and Coach Brownell probably knew that Rooks wasn't going to come back from his injury after observing him for a year. Obviously, he knew Hall and Harrison were done. The transfers should come as no surprise by now.
I'm not seeing the sense of urgency for next year. It's looking more and more like a 7 year plan.

Why don't you ask him at a 'Prowl & Growl' meeting. Clemson still has at least one more transfer who will visit in early May.
Go Tigers!

That has jack #### to do with what you posted....
you said no one wants to play for him. The last several classes going back to Blossomgame have had offers from other good programs. If no one wanted to play for him those players would not be here.
That is a fact.

Brownell has recruited some quality 4 star players these last few cycles, including Blossomgame, Grantham, and Hudson. Robertin also has a high ceiling, given his height and raw skill set.
This most recent transfer from Vanderbilt was also a highly recruited 4 star PG in high school and was the NC Player of the Year in his class.
Why can't you acknowledge the recruiting successes of late?

if you look at Milton's stats his senior year, he was as bad as people think..
3rd in pts per game 2nd in rebounds per game 2nd in assists per game 4th in FG% 2nd in 3pt%
Although he averaged 2.0 turnovers per game...there were some that were mighty close to him at (2..Booker and Hall) 1.9, and 1 at 1.6 (K J) 2nd in field goals made all year at 103..Booker was 159 2nd in 3 pt'ers all yr,,,Roper had 41 3rd in total pts for the year behind Booker 1st defensive rebounds for the yr 2nd in assist for the game 2nd in turnovers...only 2 more than booker 3rd in steals for the year 3rd in blocks per game

He had three highly recruited transfers set to visit. One committed, one didn't. Still one to go. And we've been mentioned for several. How can you say he basically isn't even trying? That's ridiculous.

So, personally, I don't blame him for looking down the road and recruiting with an eye toward the return to the new LJ ...
Regardless of what fans on Tigernet think or want, that's the season that will make him or break him at Clemson.

mediocrity for someone that loves Clemson basketball, it does appear that the focus is on year 7 and he doesn't feel any pressure on him for year 6.
Year 7 better be a couple of NCAA tournament wins at the very least. It shouldn't take 7 years to build an NIT team.

That hurts to read. His job is so secure that with no results, he will have 7 seasons here.
It actually doesn't make sense to bring in a senior transfer. All that can do is raise expectations for him this season.

He brought in Avery Holmes

Specifically to fill the PG void next season. I'm not sure what else you guys want from him. He will probably have his deepest, and possibly overall most talented team next year with the following lineup:
PG: Holmes - Hudson SG: Devoe - Roper - A.A. SF: Grantham - A.A. - Blossomgame PF: Blossomgame - Grantham - Smith C: Nnoko - S.D.
The 3/4/5 spots are about as solid as I've seen at Clemson. If Devoe can live up to his potential at SG it looks like we will be able to spread the court with 3 solid shooters (Holmes, Devoe, Grantham) and give Blossomgame and Nnoko a little more room to work. I like this team at the present and for the future. I'm not sure what you guys are bitching about.

We want the NCAA Tournament. Very simple. NIT was a nice thing, but he didn't build off of it or even maintain that. Win or get a new coach. We lost all of our program's momentum from OP and being in the top 25 off and on for 4 straight seasons with him.
The unfortunate part is that extension made it too expensive to fire him. He has job security due to that $5,000,000 buyout when he doesn't have the results to deserve that. We know he is here for 2 years simply because of that horrible deal by D Rad. This was not a 7 year rebuild when he was hired on.

Do you think this is an NCAA team? If it is, why did we not play in the CBI this year? We need post season experience to build on and more practice to develop? It seems like the team gave up with the way we finished losing 7 of our last 9.

I'm well aware he won't be fired because of the buyout. That is his job security for the next 2 seasons. Him being here doesn't means fans have to like it and not voice displeasure.
I don't want him gone because of what may happen. He shouldn't be here simply based on his lack of production. Without coming across as an instigator, do you mind answering those questions from the previous post?

No
It's impossible to say. You have to take into consideration the circumstances of the hire (emergency), the remaining players (recruited to play a different style), luck (beyond terrible (Blossomgame shattering his leg, Roper having a stroke, Rooks breaking his hip, Coleman destroying his knee, K.J. finding just enough of a jump shot to jump to the NBA early). All-in-All Brad has had a brutal run of luck at Clemson, and is now facing a season of 0 home games because the L.J. was so far behind it couldn't be fixed.
His recruiting has improved significantly over the last 2 seasons, and I'm excited for next year.
Brad isn't going anywhere, and constantly bashing him is getting old.

I agree. The way the chips have fallen after Brownell's first season have been just brutally unlucky. If you can't at least acknowledge that, then you've got the hate-colored glasses glued to your face.
Recruiting has also been better and seems to be continuing in improvement. If you can't see that either, see glasses comment above.

Yes we lost KJ. We returned 4 starters. It was also Brownell's 5th season here.
If Brownell is great at player development, then there should be enough improvement by everyone else to help fill the void especially, since we had a 4 star freshman to step in. The NIT should be the bare minimum of our expectations, especially since it was his 5th year here. We have now missed the postseason 3 of the last 4 years. Is that what we should expect for our program?

and he'll make a nice splat;
give a positive thinker the same,
and he'll sit back with his lemonade and watch the show.
maybe if you could adjust your thinking to the idea that not every season has to be an exact scalar multiple of the previous one, you would be able to recognize what it is that Brownell has accomplished in his time here vis-a-vis Clemson's historical program.
the problem, simply put, is your lack of vision, not Brownell's...

So what you are saying is you are making stuff up and have no link to my mythical Dabo hating. Thanks for clearing that up. Have a wonderful day. When are you going to show your true colors with some more bigotry that got you your last vacation?
If you got hate in your heart let it out.

Thumbing down a post bc it makes you experience epic butthurt has to be the weakest tactic of these keyboard commandos.... this post will get sniped in 3... 2..... 1....... while I collect lulz over grown men thinking thumbing down a post is cool and hurtful lololol

Before sitting out this year, most of his best games came against opponents who ended up being ncaa tourney teams.
Stats were better than halls in just about every category, playing for a team whose SOS was ranked higher.than ours in said year.

SO, ARE YOU SAYING YOU WERE NOT ONE OF THE MOT LINED UP AT DRADS DOOR DEMANDING THAT WE LOCK COACH UP LONG TERM AFTER THE NIT RUN. BETTING YOU WERE. GUESS THAT IS FORGOTTEN WHEN A LITTLE ADVERSITY STEPS IN.

NIT - What is that gonna get you - Of course I was NOT one lined up outside DRad's door clammering for a BB extension after that "NIT" run - I would have been there for his firing....
