there is absolutely nothing preventing a new College Athletics governing body from stepping up and creating college football's version of the ABA.

Elected officials have enough corruption going on in their own purview without getting into college athletics. Sure some changes need to be made, but paying every athlete is not feasible for most universities. You open up benefits, workmens comp, sick leave, pay raises bonuses etc

Some of you are over reacting to this situation. You do realize players were paid more money after adjusting for inflation before integration? Also players in that Era had to committe far less time and had far less restrictions on off season work rules.
DRAD has already set aside a million dollars in next year's budget to cover the extra cost.
This is the right thing to do, telling players they can't work and can't, but not giving them the full cost of going to school is wrong and it's time it's been corrected. The players aren't going to get rich over this rule.

You in Never Land! What is the Value of a Education? Some CLEMSON students leave with 100k student loans. Can't purchase a Home due to Student Loans.

They aren't forbidden to work while in school athletes are not allowed to work.
If you get a BA and most BS degrees and you accumulate 100k plus in debt to do so, then in my hubble opinion your a #### fool.
But that has nothing to do with the issue student athletes deserve the full cost of school. They're lots of students who are on academic scholarships who work for the school and make a descent pay.

Explain to me about the full cost of school? They get tuition, books, meals, housing and money when they go on the road.
Most get pell grants and that's upwards of 5 grand per person. You have a problem with students being able to work. You ever thought maybe it's because they have no money and have to pay for SCHOOL????????
You can't be that dumb? I hope

Who are they paying?
All players?
Players with only full scholarships?
Players with partiasl scholarships?
Will the payment to partial scholarship players be pro-rated?
Who's actually paying it - the state or the universities?
If the universities pay it, does it come from income or scholarship funds?
If scholarship funds (like IPTAY) does IPTAY become more non-tax deductable?
What about other state schools with athletic programs?
Do other state schools have to pay players?
If it is only division 1 schools - most state and non-state supported schools are Division 1 competitors in everything but football. How does that breakdown?
Can the state legislature require private schools like Furman, Wofford and PC to pay?
What if some schools can't afford it i.e. SC State?
Is it constitutional to require some schools to pay it while not requiring others?
Is it against NCAA By-Laws?

Unless you're a fan of further turning our society in to the movie "idiocracy", then you should be against paying student athletes. Covering the cost of tuition and living is more than fair enough.
