#63 Mens tennis hosts #4 Duke Friday at 2:30

Ok so we have Duke at 2:30 tomorrow at Clemson.

Duke has beaten us 7-0 for 4 years in a row now. We have tended to match up very poorly with them in recent seasons.

Last year:

The scoreline says 7-0 last year but it was a very tight match with 4 of the singles matches going to 3 sets. Here were the results last year in Durham:

(all winners were duke)
1: Jason Tahir def Hunter Harrington 6-2 7-5
2: Fred Saba def Dom Maden 7-5 5-7 6-2
3: Raphael Hemmeler def Alejandro Augusto 5-7 5-3 7-5
4: Bruno Semenzato vs Austin Ansari 6-2 4-6 6-2
5: Josh Levine def Luke Johnson 6-2 3-6 7-6(4)
6: TJ Pura def Rovery Dudley 6-1 6-2

This year:

This year Duke is ranked #4 and Clemson #63.
Duke is 16-2 on the year, only losses coming to #2 Baylor and #16 Virginia Tech.

projected top 6 for Duke tomorrow: (number before name indicates national ranking)
1. 11 Nicolas Alvarez, the freshman from Peru has been having an amazing season. Last Sunday he came from a set down to beat Noah Rubin to clinch the tight 4-3 win over #12 Wake Forest.
2. 41 Jason Tahir
3. 101 Raphael Hemmeler
4. Bruno Semenzato
5. Josh Levine
6. TJ Pura
-Chris Mengel could play in the top6 but he has been injured all year and is unlikely to play

Projected lineup for Clemson:
1. Hunter Harrington - has lost 7 in a row all by straight sets.
2. Alejandro Augusto
3. Daffra Sanon - was winning a lot at 5 but has lost a bunch at 3. Could be moved down in lineup
4. Austin Ansari
5. Luke Johnson - only Clemson player in good form. Could be moved up
6. Hampton Drake

THE ONLY WAY that Clemson can win tomorrow is if Duke is overlooking Clemson. Duke is coming off a very close emotional win over #12 Wake Forest on Sunday and will face #8 Virginia this sunday and sandwiched in between is Clemson. The Blue Devils could be taking this one for granted, if they come out flat than Clemson could sneak up on them.

Would love to see a win. Not optimistic but still hopeful. Would be a great way for this team to get back on track this season.
