ease. Clemson has their top two lb prospects as silent commitments as of now. you can read between the lines on how this should impact tomorrow.

there are also at least one or two more linemen that are silents that i think we will all be thrilled with. a great deal of Clemson's priority prospects would probably sign with Clemson if today were signing day. This is as well as i've seen recruiting go since the 80's.

Bottom line is, this class should be as good if not better than last years. Sit back and enjoy the ride without getting stressed out. Things are going beyond well for the Tiger staff.

Varied sources. I know some high school coaches, a couple of coaches at Clemson, and a couple of recruiting analysts (none of which are from TCI).

what the heck is going on here???? One thing Coach Dabo and his staff have shown it that they know how to recruit. We currently have seven commitments in March and somehow there is a "panic??" Have we become so spoiled that this somehow is not cool? Keep in mind, we have been "spoiled" by this coaching/recruiting staff, so I am sure we will be just fine...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No need to be concerned. Here's why...

Mar 26, 2015, 12:55 AM

We're in prime position with some elite players and I think it would be safe to say we have two silent LB commits.

Tobias Little From September- “I could see myself committing to Clemson today,” Little said. “The only reason I haven’t is because I want to take it slow. I’ve visited Clemson four times and I love it. I talk to the coaches a lot and it isn’t always about football. They stress family. I love their fans too. They’re crazy about the prospects and the players.” He may commit at the spring game.

Rahshaun Smith “Since the day I had the scholarship, they have recruited me the hardest. Coach [Dabo] Swinney and I have a real strong relationship. When I took my mom down for a visit, my second time going, I got to meet the university president and he is from my hometown. We built a strong relationship, my mom loves him, he loves my family and I’ve not heard anybody say that they have had a meeting with the president of a school and I’m around a lot of top prospects. That was big."

From 1/29/15- 'I love Clemson," Smith said. "They sit well with me right now. I have a great impression of them. When I went down there it was everything I thought it would be."

As far as the OLine, at this point I'd almost expect us to land Parker Boudreux. John Simpson has said we're a leader but he'd still like to take visits. Even so it appears we're in great position. Since we've already got a commitment from Sean Pollard one would think we'll take four at the most.

Now who we take as the 4th OL is up for debate. I know pleny of folks think it's EJ Price and that'd be a great pickup. It would appear we're shortly behind others for Price but still up there. Landing a wildcard OL like Clark Yarborough or Bryce Mathews would be tremendous. Still on the board with offers are Tyler Pritchett, Alex Smtih, Luke Elder, Jay Jay McCargo, Jack Defoor, Javon Kinlaw, and others. If interested, I'll give ya a brief bio on each-

OL- Parker Boudreaux 6'4 282 Orlando, FL Bishop Moore Catholic HS.

One of the top OL in the 2016 class. Has over 60 offers. ESPN Top 300, #20 OL, 222 overall. 24/7 has him as the #7 OT and #142 overall. 5.13 40, 325 bench, 450 squat. 2nd Team all state Fla 5A. Unofficially visited for UNC game. Orlando NSFC All Combine Team member. Moving up the boards quickly.

After visiting CU, said "Everything was awesome. Probably my favorite visit so far."

Also attended the Tigers bowl practice in December. You'd be hard pressed to find a better pulling guard in this class. This young man is going to be special. Crystall ball has it 43% CU, 43% ND, and 14% Fla. Bishop Moore head coach Matt Hedrick said earlier this spring, "He's potentially as good as anyone we've had, or possibly even better. He's not a great technical player yet, but he improved a lot during the year. He's got great feet, but learning how to use them to block people and gain leverage and all of that stuff, he's still learning. He's learning the game."

OL- John Simpson 6-4 270 North Charleston, SC Fort Dorchester HS

Per 24/7, he is the #26 OT, #257 overall, and a 4* prospect. Rivals gives him 4*, #7 OT, and #248 overall. Offered on 10/4/14. Visited for scar game and had this to say, “It was a good show, I must admit,” he said. “But I don’t really know how to explain it. It was a great day. I didn’t expect for it to go how it went. I was expecting it to be real close.” Has offers from CU, scar, UofL, Wake, and UGA. Has said Clemson is a slight leader at this point.

Had this to say on 2/6/15, "I've got to take some more visits," he said. "I just want to go to the school that gives me the best opportunity with education and on the field."

For video highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1513456/john-simpson

An article from Rivals on John , "Simpson emerged this fall as a dominant prospect on the offensive line, showing excellent footwork and good strength while working as a tackle. He will likely play at guard at the next level and with his athleticism, he has the ability to translate his talents into several different types of offensive schemes." Woody Wommack

After CU's Jr Day Part II named a top three of Clemson, LSU, and Miss St. The State's top offensive lineman said that Clemson is his new leader at this time. "They are my new leader but I'm going on more visits so I can really determine who the real leaders are."

For video highlights : http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1513456/john-simpson

OL- E.J. Price 6-6 290 Lawrenceville, GA Archer High

24/7 #160 overall and the 10th best OL. Rivals list Price as the #4 OT and 56th nationally. Recently listed a Top Ten (as of Jan 24, 2015) and Clemson is still in there with Aub, Ga, Mich, FSU, OhSt, LSU, scar, UT, and Vandy. Attended CU's Elite Jr Day and left with the TIgers on the top of his list. Was on campus for the CU vs. scar game.

Per his coach Todd Wofford- "He's a physical freak, by all definitions," Wofford said. "Very athletic, can run, he's powerful but only scratching the surface of what he can do. "He's very athletic. He has a mean streak. He's like the prototype left tackle."
Short read- Has the frame you look for in offensive tackles. Very athletic too and a natural bender. Grew up playing quarterback. Has great feet and length. Needs to develop in the weight room and fundamentally. http://hswashington.scout.com/story/1394777-south-2016-ranking-notes

OL- Landon Dickerson 6-5 290 Hudson, NC South Caldwell HS

Offered 12-3-14. Leaders include CU, VT, and UT. Wants to be an engineer and academics will play a huge role in his recruitment. Runs a 5.11 40, 4.70 shuttle, 30 inch vert, and 455 lb bench. A 4* recruit according to 24/7.com and they have Dickerson as the #18 OT. A 3* prospect by Rivals. ”I’m going to make my decision during my senior season, but I don’t have a date set yet,” Dickerson said. "I don't really have top schools. I have a few schools that stand out to me at the moment and those would be Virginia Tech, Tennessee and South Carolina."(from 3/12/15) Visited Clemson for the CU vs. UNC game. Clemson likes him as a center. Has offers from Clemson, scar, Tenn, VT, Bama, Auburn, UNC, and others.

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3337153/highlights/85112687

OT- Clark Yarborough 6-6 268 Woodberry Forest, VA Woodberry HS

4* by Rivals #16 OT, 187 overall. 24/7 #13 OT and #151 overall. ESPN ranks him as the #16 OT, #165 overall, with an 81 grade. Recently attended CU's Jr Day and stated that Clemson has been recruiting him the hardest (as of 3/11/15). Has an offer from CU and most major schools. His grandfather played at Virigina, as did his cousin. However he says his families' ties to particular schools will play "zero factor" in his decision. He is highly sought after due to his combination of size, length, technique, and agility. Will spend part of the spring of 15 on the west coast camping at Cal and Stanford.

On his recruitment- "There are a few schools that really stand out that I'm gonna return back to during the school year," he said. "But I'm not putting out an official list. My recruitment is still very open and I'm not gonna narrow anything down any time soon."

According to Yarbrough, a school's proximity to his home could play a small factor in his recruitment, although finding the "right fit" will supersede everything.

"I mean, it would be nice to be close to home and be close to my family," he said. "But that's not gonna stop me if I find the right fit. It could be on the other side of the country. But that's just stuff I've got to figure out."

OL- Bryce Mathews 6-6 270 4* Brentwood, TN

Rivals has him as the #14 OT and #171 overall. #277 in ESPN rankings. Father, Jason, played in the NFL, as well as Texas A&M, and is his HS OL coach. Offered on 9/21/14. A&M and Tenn are currently leading. Visited CU for the scar beatdown.
http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1392409/bryce-mathews

OG Tyler Pritchett 6-2 280 Auburn, AL Auburn HS

A 3* prospect according to ESPN. Per 24/7 he's a 3* guy and the #34 OG. They also list his pass blocking skills as a 6/10 and run blocking a 5/10. He registered a 7 in strength, 7 in foot skill, and a 7 in body quickness. 24/7's crystal ball has him leaning towards Miss St with UofL and Auburn in the mix. Rivals list him as a 3* recruit and the #20 OG.Pritchett visited for Clemson's Jr Day. He was named ASWA first team All-State 7A. He currently holds offers from UK, Miss St, Akron, Zona, Ark St, Mizzu, scar, UNC, and others. He was offered by CU on February 16th, 2015. Has said he'd like to commit early. After visiting Miss St, he called his visit, "eye opening." He is currently unranked by Rivals.com.

Film-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9AogRSPLcA

After visiting Clemson- “I was there last summer for camp. The stadium is great,” he said. “There's nothing better than running down that hill. The stadium is a great thing. I didn't get the opportunity to really inspect the weight room and stuff like that because we were only up there for a one day camp. It's was really good and I had a good trip. I'm not sure when I will get back up to Clemson but I will. Coach Caldwell has been recruiting me for a minute so hopefully I'll get up there sometime.”

Pritchett recently released a top five of South Carolina, North Carolina, Louisville, Missouri and Indiana and said he was close to making a decision. However, the Clemson offer changed his thinking and he said he now considers his recruitment to be wide open.

“I had that top five but now I've kind of let it go and my recruitment is back open,” Pritchett said. “Right now, me and my family have to do some evaluating and see what's really going on at different schools and what could potentially be happening. It's a wait and see game and we're just going to wait it out and see what happens."

OL Alex Smith 6-4 285 Woodstock, GA Etowah HS

Film: http://www.maxpreps.com/video/watch.aspx?videoid=8acad40b-9abc-4704-ab1a-72267d5fa578

“I still have not been able to see all the schools that could be up there too once I get to visit them, like Florida State, Cal and UGA,” Elder said. “Plus, I like a lot of these other schools that have offered, and I’m not narrowing down anything yet. I’m still open minded and all this is just based on schools that have offered me.”

OT- Jay Jay McCargo 6-4 260 Arlington, VA Bishop O'Connell High

3* #31 OT, 337 by Rivals. 3 stars by 24/7, the #42 OT. Has a 28" vertical, 255 bench, and 400 squat. Offered on 10/14/14. Has offers from UNC, Duke, ECU, Tennessee, Penn State, BC, scar, and CU. OT Jack DeFoor 6-5 260 Calhoun, GA Calhoun HS

On Clemson from March 4th- “I really like Clemson, they are still at the top of my list, the leader for right now,” DeFoor said. “They haven’t put any pressure on me. They’ve let me know they want me. They are interested in me and I’m really interested in them.”

Film vs. Elbert County: http://www.maxpreps.com/m/team/videos.aspx?gendersport=boys,football&schoolid=b91cf08a-e0ab-43ac-b886-a3f118096927&videoid=93f1b5af-b3a2-4feb-91b0-2fd361e8e861

OT/ DT- Javon Kinlaw 6-5 286 Goose Creek HS

24/7 has him as a 4* guy, #9 OT, and #44 overall. Rivals has him as a 3* DE, #22 DE, and number 8 in SC. ESPN rates him as a 4* recruit, #17 OT, and 181 overall. As a junior, had 50 tkls and 4 sacks. Offered on 10/15/14. Visited during Syr game. Also attended Clemson's Jr Day.

The scoop: "Kinlaw is raw, very raw as a football player. He is even more raw as an offensive tackle. He flirted with that position back in the spring, but his preference is defense, and head coach, Chuck Reedy feels Kinlaw can help his team more on that side of the ball this year. Next year may be different. Kinlaw may again make another number switch. His future is at offensive tackle if he wants to be a difference-maker on the next level. Yes, he has improved as a big end this season -- he is quicker off the ball, he is in better football shape, and he has improved his strength."

Looks as if he plays to high and is often late off the snap. And by saying often I'm being polite, at that. Check out the above video at the :27 mark and you'll see he's the last off the line as well as seeing how open field running does not look natural to him. Does well against inferior competition and tackles well when they run right into him. Not seeing the explosiveness. When I watch his film, LB KJ Wood seems to stand out more than Kinlaw. Probably projects better as an OL or NG at the next level. Just my opinion.

”Before next season starts, I want to get down to Florida and probably Florida State,” Kinlaw said. “I’m going to try to get to Alabama, too.”

Three schools lead for the Goose Creek standout. ”South Carolina, Florida and Clemson are my top three schools – in that order.” he said.

“I know they’ll make the cut when I narrow my list."

”South Carolina and Clemson are home-state schools and I’m very familiar with those programs. And I’ve always like Florida since I was little. I’ve also already talked to (defensive line) coach (Chris) Rumph a few times and I like him."

Kinlaw is in no hurry to make his decision. http://recruiting.scout.com/story/1521267-4-star-ot-kinlaw-names-top-3

I don't really see us taking Little unless it's towards the back end of the cycle and the coaches decide that we need a thumper for special teams/reserve LB. I basically view him in a similar role to the Davis twins except with a better build and more talent.
