KJ and The Rockets...

Mar 5, 2015, 1:29 PM

sound like a band!

But, anybody got any insight into why they would make a trade for him and then let him rot on the bench? He played 1.5 mins in game 1, 30 seconds in game 2, and hasnt touched the floor in 6 straight since.

I'm thinking it may be because since he was traded, the Rockets have only had more than 1 day off 2 times and both were only 2 days with travel so maybe he hasnt had a chance to adjust to playbook, team, etc.

but it makes me wonder. any info?

Reports stat that it is because they are in playoff hunt and cannot afford to let someone learn by fire.

The reports say that they have him for the reasons of
1. the like his potential
2. not sure who from Rockets will stick around next year
3. they may see him as replacement for someone who they will not resign.

Kind of like "Bennie and the Jets"

But, I hear they're weird and they're wonderful

No time to install their plays yet

He needs them to have some off days so he can learn.

They traded for him for next year....

They think they will lose some players and they wnat to be the team that owns the "restricted" part of his Restricted Free Agent tag.

Not playing him much would probably keep his price tag down too

They should still play him some unless he is injured. They do not know if he can contribute next year if they don't see visual proof of same during the latter parts of this season.

He needs to play! At least some few minutes, in meaningful games. For the record, in my view KJ left a year early. Had he stayed and been an impact player in the ACC again this season, he would have gone higher in the coming draft and raked in more $$ for he and Mom to utilize. I guarantee you Mom is not happy at this turn of events.

I think there are a couple of possibilities.

Mar 5, 2015, 3:59 PM

1) They had a handshake deal in place with KJ and his agent to sign him long-term after his 1-year deal expires.
2) They got him in the hopes that he could learn the system in time to contribute in the playoffs.

It could be a bit of both, but #1 seems more likely to me so I would be a bit surprised at this point if he's playing somewhere else next season.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He got traded to a better team and hasn't been good enough

Mar 5, 2015, 4:26 PM

to get a look off the bench? I mean yeah he was playing a lot for philly, but bench warmers across the league are starters for philly.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Houston traded FOR him. It's not like he got

Mar 5, 2015, 5:38 PM

thrown in as after thought and then wasn't good enough to play for the team. The Rockets wanted KJ for a reason. Either they thought he could contribute this year or they think they can sign him long term next year.
