Congrats to the 'Hoos......back to back ACC Champs

a feat not accomplished by any other ACC team not named Duke or unc since the David Thompson-lead NCSt teams in the early '70's

They;ve proven its possible to win the ACC on the basis of an overwhelming defense playing without the benefit of a lottery pick offensive player.

regular season champs....which really hasn't been recognized since the late-80's/early 90's .....and, as far as I know, the official ACC champ is still the Tournament Champion....

I've often wondered why, since expansion, the conference doesn't divide up into divisions and then play the tournament in single elimination brackets......I guess until they do, it'll be OK to recognize the team with the best regular season record out of 16 teams.

but teams still put up banners for regular season "titles" and the sports press keeps up with them

there is a banner hanging in LJ for 1990

also shows that D and a slow-paced offense can win

they have skilled offensive players, they're well coached and choose to play at a slower pace than most teams - they are very efficient
