I - Formation

It would be nice to see an "I" package again in this offense. I like what we do offensively in the gun, but inside the 10, it would be nice to just line up in the "I" or an offset "I" and punch people in the mouth. If the OL is decent, we certainly have the backs to do it. Thoughts?

We use a version of the I sometimes with Byers as FB***

With all the RB's we will have I would like to see a full house formation from the pistol.

We ran a good bit of Pistol with Tajh...I think DW4 would be awesome out of that formation.

The problem we have is we haven't had the backs to do it. If you watch the teams that can do that all have talented 230 plus lbs running backs, our have barely topped 200 lbs. You require more than a good oline when the defense is on the goal line and they know your running, it's easy for them to flood one side of the formation and stop the run. You need a back who can break tackles and run through people.

I did say 10 yd line, and you're right about having a bruiser for that field position, but thinking about it, I'd like to see it on other parts of the field too. Some bootleg run/pass options, off tackle and play action out of it. Just to mix things up.

Well it really comes down to who are our best play makers, the last several years they've been WR's. So we get them the ball, in 2013 TB was our best power back so he ran in short yardage and we converted most of the time. This year we didn't have a power back and it showed.
