I've noticed that recruiting on the O-Line, USuC seesm to go

Jan 21, 2015, 11:35 AM

after taller offensive lineman. It seems they like them in the 6'6 - 6'8 range.

Clemson seems to offer and pursue guys 6'3 - 6'6 for the o-line.

Does height help on the O-line if the weight and other measurables are the same?

Seems to me that you can be too tall for the Tackle position.

thoughts?

Ask Oklahoma how they enjoyed trying to block

Our quick defense with giant o-lineman. Same with the coots in 2013 and 2014. When it comes to a straight-on bullrush, height probably does not hurt, but generally bigger and heavier guys really struggle with a Vic Beasley or a Barkevious Mingo. I'll take a strong Tyler Shatley with a low center of gravity all day.

That's why I think Grady will succeed in the pros.

He's strong, fast, and has a motor like few others. His height could be an asset with the low way he uses his power, especially against those tall O-lineman who can't leverage all their strength to block him well.

We would recruit them too if.....

They were smart enough to meet the ACC's academic minimums, unless you are FSU. FSU is special. If they would come to Dabos Camp and do well they might get more attention. But it's really about grades and character.

Think all teams would prefer a 6'7 OT but not a lot of really good ones out there. Think are staff would rather have a 6'4 6'5 guy that can move really well instead of a 6'7 that's a little slower. Use would rather count on bigger
