Brownell is Paul Johnson minus the success

They both run very unattractive offenses to the naked eye with young people. As a father of two kids that play AAU basketball, I can tell you that today's generation of kids simply don't want to play that grind it out, possession by possession style of offense and defense. The top echelon players go to schools that run and gun. It is what it is. Would we get Deshaun Watson's, Sammy Watkins and the like running the flexbone? I think not.

I just don't believe you can compare someone with multiple national titles to an avg coach. Maybe if Brownell had UNC-W or Wright State in the top 25 a few times while he was there.

The reason for comparing the two is to get our fans to see how drastic a difference our style of play is in comparison to other teams across the country. Also to show how it's virtually impossible to have recruiting success playing "3 yards and a cloud of dust" as Brownell proudly coined it as.

If you would've said Clemson bball is the triple option offense of college basketball then yes.

A national championship is a national championship. Winning playoffs two years out of 5 is very difficult.

Your personal definition of relevant is worthless.

Being a national champion in anything at any level is awesome. FBS schools have advantages that FCS schools don't have. Competing with your equals and being the best is impressive. I doubt you have any relevant accomplishments in your life, by your own random definition.

Arizona, Wisconsin, Virginia, Texas, Cincinnati, Florida
All very recently successful programs that have recruited at a high level while playing defense first, grind it out, style of play. You don't need McD's all americans to be competitive. Virginia has none and after watching them dismantle Harvard today I'd argue that they're one of the top 3 teams in the nation behind Kentucky and Duke.
Brownell just hasn't shown he can recruit at all. Much less recruit ACC caliber players.

I am embarrassed for you to have kids in AAU and make this comment. Since when has Clemson been a destination for top flight basketball players? You think it is because of the defensive minded HC?
Go shoot some hoops with your kids as you have no idea what you're stating as it is frankly BS.

Current Ga Tech team has (4) four stars and no five stars yet routinely beats more talented teams.

Rick Barnes had the luxury of coaching at Clemson when Duke was somewhat down and before Syracuse, Louisville, Pitt, BC, and the like had joined the ACC. On a side note, I hate Rick Barnes and all he stands for. The lying sack of dog excrement would not be worth my urine were he to walk by me engulfed in flames.
