Volunteering at Augusta

Dec 20, 2014, 11:10 PM

I've been volunteering for Wells Fargo championship at quail hollow for a few years now and love it. I have been trying to do the same during the masters but no luck. Apparently you need connections to volunteer your time.

Anyone on here able to assist or have pointers?

Took me 3 years on the wait list. Sign up and pick a certain roll. Marshall
Is the easiest to get quickly. Once you're in a few years to can go after walking scorer, etc.

Once you're in you've got it until you decide to walk away but you won't want too. Good luck and welcome

Were you posting on big scoreboard on 18 when Nicklaus .....

won in '86? I was standing around 18 as each player came through (Norman, Kite, etc.) and it was all the crowd could to keep from cheering when each player failed. We could hear the roars on the back 9 and knew Nicklaus was charging, and of course everyone wanted him to win. I had a VCR and had programmed it for the first time for that Masters. When Norman hit his shot in the bunker on 18 (at 6 PM as I recall) I looked at my watch and told my wife "uh oh, I think my VCR just stopped recording." Sure enough when I got home it had stopped right in the middle of Norman's backswing. It was one for the ages as Vern would say.
