Danny Ford would be so proud

Not sure how we stack up this yr against some of the great ones Ford had, but this is definitely the best defense we've had at Clemson in 23 years.
I look forward to what guys like... Carlos Watkins, DJ Reader, Shaq Lawson, Ben Boulware, Jayron Kearse & Makensie Alexander help bring to the 2015 defense.

I'm sure there will be some drop-off considering what we are losing at Dline and LB, but the next players up are, and I don't mean offense to the current starters, more talented. Sky's the limit with this defense.

...Whatcha mean "Would"? That word is "PAST Tense". While Coach Ford may be getting up there in years, I talked with him before the game yesterday, and he is STILL VERY MUCH ALIVE! Matter of fact, He STILL scares me! I bet Coach could STILL "Cut some butt", even NOW! So, having said that, I think the proper way to put it would be, "Danny Ford IS so proud". Even "Very, Very proud"! Sorry for being the "Grammar Police"! I just couldn't let THAT implication get traction! Hahahaha! GO TIGERS....& Coach Ford!

defense #1 in nation

Our defense has been dominating all year. Was fun to watch. And I remember our old skool Defense and I believe our D in 2014 is as good or better. If you take in consideration the more complex. Offenses of the day. Their bone crushers!!

I saw every team Danny had, and I saw about every play they made. This defense is as good, and in some instances better. The speed on BV's defense is no doubt faster. But Danny always had a stout D every year!!!

Exactly, and especially when a lot of Clemson fans on here acted the part of BV being a bad hire when first hired. They thought that Mike Stoops was the brain behind Oak's D b/c Brent had a couple slow years after Mike went to AZ. But actually about all teams in that conference were going with and had gone with the HUNH offense. And any DC stats will look to be falling off when playing against those type offenses week in and week out. I know this, I believe BV when he says that he is a stick around loyal type of guy. And our AD had better reopen the check book and reward this stick around loyal guy in Brent Venables. BV isn't as in a hurry to become a HC as CM is, but still, BV had to cover CM's A$S for an entire season. If we win our bowl game and have a 10 win season, BV's defense will be 75% responsible for all the wins IMO!!!

That 1990 defense was awesome, but we played better offenses this year than in '90. UGA, FSU, GT, USuC, UNC all capable of putting up big numbers offensively, and we held them all in check, except 4th quarter at UGA. Very impressive D this season. Was a pleasure to watch.

I agree 100%. Time to give BV a salary bump as well as Jeff Scott. Jeff has done an incredible job with recruiting and yet remains one of the lowest paid assistants.
