Heard something pretty interesting about Watson's injury yesterday...

Nov 26, 2014, 9:22 PM

Was listening to the radio and they had one of the Fox announcers from the game last week on and he said that a member of our training staff told him that the injury was actually a bruise to the ligament. Not a seperate bruise/ligament injury. Said that its the same injury he suffered in high school...

Basically that means he will throw for 5 TD's and run for 2.

It is comforting knowing that he will not be throwing the ball using his knee ligament.

ligament has very few if any veins. It doesn't have a vascular network running around it like muscles and organs in the body. And a bruise suggests a hematoma of some sort...a bursting of those veins... Maybe I'm missing something here or this is beyond the scope of Med Surg, but I didn't know ligaments could be bruised. Learn something new everyday....

This is from a medical website:

Contusions
A contusion is a bruise caused by a blow to your muscle, tendon, or ligament. The bruise is caused when blood pools around the injury and discolors the skin.

Most contusions are mild and respond well when you rest, apply ice and compression, and elevate the injured area.

If symptoms persist, medical care should be sought to prevent permanent damage to the soft tissues.

Sooooo I guess that means that it can happen?!?!

and I find it hilarious when there's things out there that contradict what an instructor says...guess that's why everyone's constantly getting 10+ point curves...
