OK. I catch a lot of grief every time I've mentioned this in the past, but I can assure you the Ol' Ball Sac can pick a secondary apart better than any of us. We all know how our safeties like to come up and tackle, especially Kearse. I'm sure some of you can remember recent games where we bit on the play action pass and their receivers dropped the ball or fell at the catch.
I'd much rather see us keep Smith and Kearse back and give up the occasional 15-20 yard play than have us bite on a run and get killed with a play action pass for a touchdown (or two). It will happen this game unless we keep the safeties back and read the plays correctly. Carolina may not have a great defense, but they can still score a lot of points. (36 points/game in the last 6 games)
Very few teams can make a 75 yard drive on us, so take out the turnovers and big plays and we should be fine. Hope TyDye can run as well as he did last week and Morris can call a smart game!

You know when playaction doesn't work?

When a team can't run the ball.
I don't think they'll be able to run on us very well.

I think I agree with you - let the corners play press and keep the safeties deep. There may be a few situations that would call for bringing up the safeties to jam the box, but I think I'd rather take my chances our front seven can take care of it - at least until the red zone, which should allow the safeties some flexibility.

They'd need to run the ball successfully first

And they haven't done that the past few years and that won't change this year.

Solid post. Always worried about play action against our guys. He loves to attack the middle of the field deep. Sends a couple of WRs down the hash mark, have his qb look the safety off by staring a wr off one way, just long enough to connect with the the one streaking the opposite hash.

Also expect to see the entire offense rolling right, while one guy (TE or RB) fakes max protect before slipping out to the left for a backside strike in the red zone. BC scored on us with this play as well.

Safeties just have to stay disciplined, and I think they're at that point now.
