Realism is for grown-ups and I am a child

Nov 24, 2014, 10:29 AM

First off, I am a 56 year old Tiger fan that has been a fan since I was a teenager. My brother is a BSEE grad and I enrolled at CU to follow his footsteps, but was too young to dedicate myself to college, so I chased other dreams. This isn't a sad story, most of my dreams came true and life has been very good to me.

Through all of that, I have always been a Tiger fan and I have always believed that we will win every game. I am like a child in that way. I will not drag myself down this week with stats and starts and injuries or any of the other things that help people be realists. I don't want to be real, I want to believe.

I have faith in the Tigers this week just as I do before every game. Will I curse the tv if we do poorly? Absolutely. Will I mourn another loss to the dirtpeckers, if that is the outcome? Every time. Will I ever lose my child-like belief in every thing Clemson? Never, ever, ever. And you can't make me!!, so there. Go Tigers.

I like your attitude! I resemble your remarks, except, I did graduate from Clemson. Thanks for your faithfulness and for your positive belief in the program! Go Tigers!

I put my shoes under the very same type of bed everyday of my life. I believe we will win every game, and get highly pisssed off when we don't. But when I go to bed the same night after a loss, my shoes go under the same bed they did years before. Its Clemson sports for me or nothing, and its been that way since I was 10 years old 53 years ago. It is true that you can teach an old dog new tricks, but you can't teach an old dog to leave what's been good to them most of their life. The best dogs are the ones that can get their butt kicked by the neighbor dog that morning, and wait for him to come back by and try him again. And that is the type of Clemson fan I am. Just b/c you beat me today, that doesn't mean you will tomorrow. Tomorrow is a totally different day, and I'll be ready to try you again.
