Him and Danny Kanell were discussing their top 4, Kanell pointed out the weak OOC schedules for Alabama and Mississippi St., and also the fact that FSU get's bashed for only beating a 6-5 BC team by 3, but Alabama received no flak for only beating 6-5 Arkansas by 1.
The only response Finebaum could muster was, "nobody respects FSU but you".

of titans that both belonged in the top-4 in spite of Auburn beating Ole Miss and Ole Miss losing by 3 to LSU the week before. Turns out neither team is very good. They want to give a pass for losing to another SEC team no matter how bad the score. Yet, when any non SEC team loses to an SEC team it is because that non SEC team is just in way over their head. When non SEC teams beat SEC teams and it happens more often than they care to admit, it is because the SEC team didn't really want to be there (Louisville blowout of Florida or Utah blowout of Bama in Sugar Bowlor) felt like it was a consolation game (Oklahoma blowout of Bama in the Sugar Bowl).

every week. Bama has rarely struggled, and has some blowouts under their belt. Count me as among those who do not see FSU as a legit top-4 team. Hate the SEC as much as you want, but Bama is better than FSU, at least this year...

Maybe not but they are still undefeated and have just as many wins over ranked opponents as teams like Alabama and Mississippi St. who supposedly play "brutal" schedules. Plus they don't have the joke of a non confernce schedule those teams do.

the playoff discussion for any team in the Big 5 conferences (ACC/SEC/Big 10/Big 12/Pac 12). All such teams are smart to schedule patsies in off weeks, because they will face a few ranked teams during the seasons. Non-conf. schedule shouldn't matter at all - only overall strength of schedule. This non-conference scheduling issue is a red herring... unless we're talking about a team like Marshall, for example whose conference slate is a joke.

How can you determine which conference is best and therefore which teams are playing the toughest schedules when teams play nothing but cupcakes OOC?
SOS goes by record right? So a 9-2 Sunbelt team looks the same as a 9-2 SEC team.

That is a fair point. You have to default back to bowl history. SEC has by far the best bowl game winning percentage, and wins the nat'l championship about every year (not last year). Maybe not fair, but they've walked the walk.

When you match up with big10's every year you should have a great bowl record. Did you see what va tech did at ohio state? That's the big10's best team.
Also when you buy a QB/heismsn(Scam) or play sec vs sec, it's hard to not win. Also remember one year texas's QB McCoy was hurt vs Bama.
What's the split on the chik fil a game in Atlanta? I think it's about even between acc and sec.

I agree they have the right to be number one based on their body of work so far (undefeated season). But not for a second do I believe they are good enough to win the National Title. If I had to choose, I'd put my money on several teams ahead of them (one such team would be Alabama).

Finebaum is just part of the $ec's and espn's money agenda of pumping sec sunshine and rainbows up everyone's butts.
Which of the sec teams has more talent than FSU, is undefeated, and won the last national title with a returning heisman QB?
They are quicker to give Arkansas(one sec win in two years) the nod over the undefeated national champs. Get real $unshine pumpers of the sec!
If FSU were in the sec east or west they'd be hailed as supreme world beaters that fight off every team's best shot.
Back here in reality the truth is the acc is not as bad and sec is not as good as they try to sell you.
