Who will leave for HC position first? CM or BV?

Oct 31, 2014, 2:32 PM

I'd love to keep Brent Venables around for a long time but i don't think it'll happen. I think a good DC is harder to replace than a good OC.

Thoughts?

They both will be here for awhile, the money they make will keep them here.

I think CM will be offered a job worth leaving us for 1st

I don't have the exact numbers, but around 2/3s of schools are hiring coaches with an offensive background to become head coach. The identity of a program these days is defined by the offensive philosophy and system.

Venables best shot at a head coaching job will be at Kansas State whenever Bill Snyder retires.

I think both coaches will be back next year though.

Right now, I would rather keep BV than CM.

CM I suspect, because defenses are still playing catch-up

to the HUNH offense. However, Morris's luster is starting to dull a little bit and he may find himself with fewer offers as years go on.

BV was a D-co for 15 years & then came here

Oct 31, 2014, 6:52 PM

And has by far the BEST defense in the best offensive league in the country. If he were wanting to be a HC couldn't he have landed a good job after Oklahoma?

Part of the reason BV left Oklahoma was because he was never viewed as the main man there. It was stoops bros d and he was not the true DC. Came here to prove himself and get a head cozch shot.

Maybe the 'newness,' of CM has worn off or maybe...

Oct 31, 2014, 7:16 PM

it's just a problem we have with injuries or lacking a true dual threat QB at this time, you know, it might be just that half a dozen on here think he's paid too much, on second, third, fourth or fifth thought I hope BV stays and becomes our HC when and if Dabo ever leaves though I hope they all stay if I had my wish.

BV has jumped way ahead of CM this year, but yr not over!

With a few great offensive performances in last few games, CM could redeem himself - hope he does! Then it will be neck and neck who gets first HC job!

I think they'll both stay for a long time...at least I hope they will.
