Everybody in California confuses North and South Carolina

If I tell someone a story involving South Carolina, the next time I see them they ask me about North Carolina and I say, "no, you mean South Carolina".
If I tell someone about North Carolina, the next time I see them they ask me about South Carolina and I say, "no, you mean North Carolina".
So I was just thinking that when the NCAA issues the obvious upcoming penalty for all those years of academic fraud and abuse, if they happened to ask me for directions I would tell them to take I-20 East out of Atlanta and drive 214 miles. That will get you where you need to be.

Our states do get mixed up a lot, which is ironic really. While we share a common name, the two states are culturally very different in regards to the southeastern region.

subtle or does sending the NCAA to Columbia, South Carolina when intending to penalize North Carolina just seem like the natural thing to do?
