It is...absolutely amazing to me. I honestly think FSU is going to try to brazen this out until after football season.
FSU was obviously in pure damage control mode when they announced a rather impromptu hearing to determine whether or not Winston was in violation of the school code of conduct...but now that it's announced, two weeks have passed...and they have yet to actually set a date for their said announced hearing.
In the meantime, their "compliance" department determined, in less than a week, that there was "no evidence at this time" to indicate that Winston had taken payment for signing 2,000+ pieces of sports memorabilia...for a single broker.
So...basically, they're not just running the risk of having their entire season voided because they may have been playing an ineligible player. Now FSU is running a very real risk of coming afoul of a Title IX violation by the Department of Education. Which could literally cost them their federal funding.
This is kind of the definition of "loss of institutional control", and it's the sort of thing that just leaves you shaking your head. Who's running this asylum of a program down in Tally?
