Do weekly, regular season polls matter?

Oct 21, 2014, 2:56 PM

Do they impact TV exposure at all, as far as which teams are selected for which networks and which time slots? I would say they do. If so, and if being on a certain network in a certain time slot matters at all, then I would say weekly, regular season polls do matter. On the other hand, if rankings are a non-factor for the networks, or if being on one network at noon is just as good as being on another at 8:00, then I guess they don't matter.

Rankings clearly influence network decisions.

But they aren't the only factor. Our two top ten losses aren't the ONLY reason we've been scuttled away on ESPNU for a month.
