#12 in next four weeks...

We win, we climb to about 12 over next four weeks just based on those likely to lose ahead of us. To break that barrier, we will need some upsets especially within sec west. ESECpn will not let us pass one of them until they get 3 losses. We have a chance to pass big 10, 12, and PAC teams who lose again.

Watson returning for gt would help our rise

Probably not going to happen no matter who loses. We'll get to about 12 like the OP says then top ten after a sound azzwhuppin on a one loss ND team. Heck of a good season which everyone will be proud of. Except the dumpers, of course.

It really depends on how the committee ranks us next week. I don't believe they'll follow suit from the AP. AP has a serious bias against Clemson and the ACC. i.e. USC and OU ranked ahead of us currently. Look at the losses. We should be 17 or 18 right now. Expect we'll pass all the BIG10/12/PAC12 teams except the champs. Won't pass FSU. Won't pass ECU until SCAR. Won't pass either team in the SEC champ game and probably 1 or 2 others. ND is a media darling and we won't pass them either. Realistically, with the SEC bias that's out there our best hope is to be ranked 10 or 11 going into the bowl.

It will take unusual upsets to vault us higher which usually happens to some extent.
We win out and we will be 10 or higher regardless of how bad we beat people.
