Stupid Idea

All this talk about playoffs and 4 teams from the SEC has me both annoyed and bored. It's the SEC, 3 other conferences, then the ACC.

Here's my stupid idea. No committees, no rankings, no computers, no SEC.

Let's ditch all the conferences. The top 64 teams get broken down into 4 regions, N/S/E/W.

Each team may select 3 other teams that they want to play every year for rivalry sake. Clemson might choose, USuC, UGA, FSU for example.

5 additional teams would be matched up within of the region. (UNC, UT, AL, Miami, GT)

3 teams would be selected, one from each other region. (Oregon, Ohio State, BC)

1 team not from the top 64 may be selected (Furman, SC State, Citadel, etc) but must be played as the first game of the year.

That gives you 11 match ups of top 64 teams.

The top 2 teams from each region play in the first round of the playoffs - regional championship. Rematches are OK (I'd love another crack at FSU)

Round 2 = rotation of N vs S, E vs W

Championship = winners of round 2


Schedules could be drawn up 3 years in advance.
