I laugh at all the Homers here on this forum who get so bent out of shape and upset over the polls.
The polls mean nothing at this time of the season and will continue to change as the season progresses. The final polls will be based not on opinions, but on wins and losses. USC was in the top 10 at the beginning of the season until the shellacking by A&M.

The homers here who whine and complain about Clemson's rankings need to realize that bowl selections are based on league affiliations and how well a team travels: not on polls.

Get a life people. The first place team in the ACC gets either a playoff spot or the Orange Bowl. Since FSU plays in the ACC with no real competition other than Clemson, they should get a playoff bid.
This leaves the Orange Bowl open to Clemson. Since Clemson travels well, money will be the deciding factor over a Duke selection who could possible have only 1 loss before the ACC championship game (losing to FSU) and ending up with 2 losses.

Everyone - take a deep breathe. The polls will settle out as the teams play and pick each other off.

USC lost to Boston College and Arizona. They are hardly top 20 material . Only their tradition keeps them so high in the polls. It's ridiculous.

They still have to go on the road to Utah, on the road to UCLA, and play Notre Dame at home. But yeah I agree. Polls sort themselves out sometimes.

The "top 5" in the opinion poll this week

Old Miss still has Auburn and Miss State (along with LSU and Arkansas)
Miss State still has @ Alabama and @ Ole Miss
Auburn still has @ ole Miss, @ Georgia, @ Alabama (whew)
Alabama still has Miss State, Auburn
Florida State still has 3 ACC cupcakes
