Football playoffs evolve. The top 4 teams in AP top 25 will not be the four teams in the playoffs. Just like the NCAA basketball tournament in the 60's and 70's your rank didn't matter your conference standing was the most important factor.


The four team playoff is owned by the 5 power conferences and they will decide who plays. They will not care how much ESPN cries or the ranting of a sports talk show host in Alabama.

members will be immune to the influence of ESPN or existing polls. It's a step in the right direction, however, and I'll take it for now.

And their strong personalities like Miss Rice she doesn't care what ESPN or sports writers say about her decision.

The playoffs will consist of 4 conference champion. The regular season is an elimination tournament no way three or even two teams from the SEC make the tournament. That would not be good for the overall health of college football.

I doubt they will be immune to television ratings and advertising revenue in their selections either.

Ratings will be off the charts. The playoffs will eventually kill the bowls that's why their easing into it with four teams, and will eventually move to 8 then 16.


They have their money it's up to ESPN/ABC yo sell it just like CBS does for basketball.

It will be a sham just like everything else big money gets a grip on. The only changes I expect are the ones that has already been set. The ones that will pick the 4 teams that ESECPN approve of....

With 5 major conferences and only 4 spots, I don't see ADs from 4 of the conferences voting 2 teams in the playoff from one conference. Maybe in truly exceptional years, but it will be rare. Someone is getting left out and I don't think ADs will want to make it 2 conferences being left out.
