Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Sep 30, 2014, 6:15 PM

I fear my question may be received as a lack of appropriate concern for those who have suffered from a terrible disease as well as those who care for them, but is it really necessary for the football team to wear pink clothes in order to demonstrate support for breast cancer research? And what about all the other terrible diseases there are out there, should there be colors worn for those as well?
I've been fortunate that none of my family has suffered from this, but I have had friends that did and I do lament the suffering for all who have dealt with this. I'm just not sure pinking up the football team, which it seems the entire nation has embraced, is so very useful.

Don't go there. Tread lightly or you'll be labeled a hater.

I think a whole month of pink does make the message lose it's effectiveness, but that opinion got the hornets stirred up last year.

So you think a pin that says "Save the Prostates" is a good
