QB Rating: Watson vs. Stoudt

I know DeShaun has played well, but I couldn't believe his QBR compared to Cole's:
DeShaun ranks 3rd in the country overall at 90.9 and the guy that ranks first, Seth Russell, isn't even Baylor's starter!
Cole ranks 112th in the country overall at 32.8.
There's just no comparison. I hate it for Cole. He's a great kid and I'm sure he killed himself to get ready for this season. I also think Morris does a horrible job of utilizing his skill set... But at the end of the day, the numbers just don't lie.

I agree that Watson is a better Q.B. To me, this whole situation has been handled POORLY. Dabo and Morris said 1/2 Million times that Cole was the starter, it was settled, no controversy, done deal. etc. etc. A week later, he is not the starter. In my opinion, it just made Morris and Dabo look stupid and made them look like they are not people of their word. Watson should be starter. Dabo never should have said what he said about the position, knowing it was not truly settled. Dabo should have just been quiet and said something like "Cole is starting against UGA." "Cole is starting against SCST." If it was not truly settled, he should have just dealt with it on a week by week basis.

Not saying he should have kept him on the bench. I am saying he should not have made the statements pre and early season that he made. Watson should be the starter, but all the earlier statements should not have been made. Les Myles has the same issue. He did not name the starter until game time the first game. He has made it plain that it is a week by week decision.

I hate that we could possibly be 3-1 or 4-0 right now had he started from game 1.

They said stoudt was the starter but the job was still competitive and cole wasn't guaranteed the job for the season.
You've got to learn what coach speak is. If Dabo says something to the media, it's gonna get back to the team so he has to be careful with what he says.
Fans will support a b-hole coach that wins games and fire the best dude in the world for losing them. He needs the players to win games.
As such, it's more important that the players hear the right message than it is for the fans to have the full, honest truth. If he has to tell some bs and half truths to the fans to build up the confidence of the players, then so be it.

We'll never have accurate stats on Cole.

Most of those stats came against the two teams on our regular schedule with the most talent on the other side of the ball.
Relax, it's not like I'm contradicting you. It doesn't take a stat sheet to see that DW has a ton more natural ability and deserves the next start.
