Go to Lot 2 and start throwing a football around very close (if not into) people's tailgate setups. Some really friendly and mild mannered folks there that would love it!

i only get to go to just a few games maybe each year, due to money, but i want to get more into it, because i love Clemson, just want to start a bigger tradition with it and the whole nine yards

If you just show up and walk around a lot or two, I think you will be able to find a group to hang out with. Many Clemson fans would welcome you to their tailgate and share a little food and beverage as long as you are respectful, polite, etc. Not saying you wouldn't be any of these things, just being clear.
