Two of these three plays resulted in a TD.

If your argument is that they scored b/c he was under center

Sep 23, 2014, 1:28 PM

then that's pretty weak

fact that these plays are not on the 1 foot line? Another question, how would he make a case of defense for his lame azzed position if he included an honest and complete set of information?

What's that called again, retterick? :)

No that's not my argument. I just want people to know that

Sep 23, 2014, 1:33 PM [ in reply to If your argument is that they scored b/c he was under center ]

DW has taken snaps from center before. He did it plenty in High School and he's done it twice at Clemson.

I don't recall anyone ever saying he had never taken a snap

Sep 23, 2014, 1:35 PM

under center.

I do recall being told that he had fumbled under center, as late as Thursday before the game.

I don't see how you don't go with what the staff feels and sees on this one.

Of course you're not because you don't want to be wrong.

the coaches made some mistakes saturday

you need to accept that

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I never said they didn't.... but the notion that we didn't

Sep 23, 2014, 1:42 PM

score or convert b/c we were not under center is ABSURD.

We need to examine how to score TD's when we have opportunities in big games, for sure.

But to suggest that you were surprised we were in the gun, or that we would have gotten it had we been under center, or that the decision to be in the gun represented a bad coaching move is ABSURD.

the frustrating thing is guys like you completely missing

Sep 23, 2014, 1:44 PM

the point.

All you got is "shoulda been under center", but you ignore the larger issue. The issue is not "under center or gun", and it's STUPID to suggest that it is.

The issue is finding a way to score points and convert key situations, esepcially in the 2nd half of big games.

To suggest that being under center solves that for us is stupid.

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

You got all of that from 3 pictures?

Sep 23, 2014, 1:52 PM

You assume far too much. I understand both sides on this issue. My post was not intended to discredit the decision of the coaches. My post was to disprove the notion that he has never taken a snap under center. A notion that has been spouted all over this message board and twitter the past two days.

I still haven't seen the quote that he has never taken

can you provide it?

Stop pulling stuff out of your rear end. I never gave an indication that the coaches said it.

under center is wrong. That goes for people on tigernet who said it and the people on twitter who said it. I never indicated that the coaches said it.

Yeah I did not like the Chad excuse that

Sep 23, 2014, 2:11 PM

DW does not take the snap directly from center.

Actually, if you watch the game again, you will see through out the game high snaps that DW had to jump to get it. It was a point of concern through out the game and it does not surprise me that it happened.

Shotgun vs Under Center

Sep 23, 2014, 2:31 PM

Typically when your in the shotgun your O-line is (or can be) in a two point stance and but really only in 3 point stance when the QB is under center.

There is a school of thought that even in the shotgun with the QB 4-5 yards behind the center, your o-line is at an advantage in the shotgun on short yardage because they're already in a "fighting position" vs having to fire off the ball in a 3 point stance (vs defenders with their "hands in the dirt").

Not saying I agree, but that what some folks espouse to.
